Sanibel Island is over 50% wild life sanctuary. Visit, Ding Darling Nature Preserve, C.R.O.W. (Clinic and Rehabilitation of Wildlife) where injured animals are cared for until ready to be released to the wild. Perhaps you have seen Dr. P.J. on TV's Animal Planet - Visit C.R.O.W. and see the wonderful work she and her staff are doing. A must see also, is the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum.
For entertainment there is the Pirate Play House and the Old Schoolhouse Theater, as well as the Island Cinema. There are great restaurants and shops when it's time for a break from the beach. There are two 18 hole courses to challenge the golfer; The Dunes and Beachview. You will find as little or as much as you care to do on Sanibel.
